ALLERGY TEST - £110

 This is a home based allergy blood test recommended as a stand-alone test for anyone with:

• Suspected or known allergies
• Previous severe allergy response
• Previous anaphylactic shock

What we test

• 38 food & drink allergens
• All 6 main allergy categories: nuts & seeds, grains, diary, legumes, meat, fish & seafood, fruit, vegetables.

How to test

• This is a home-based test
• A small sample of blood will be obtained through a quick prick to your finger
• Once completed as per instructions, you will send the testing kit to our lab.

What to expect afterwards

• The sample will be analysed by our lab and results released within 7 days
• You will receive a report highlighting any specific allergy detected out of the possible 38 allergens
• You will have access to an allergy management protocol & online health portal
• You will be offered 30 minutes of online support from our Allergy Health Coach at an additional £45

SENSITIVITY TEST - £65

This is a home-based needle-free sensitivity test for anyone with:

• Unexplained bloating and digestion troubles 
• Suspected food intolerances
• Previous or current IBS / food sensitivities
• Unexplained fatigue

This is a stand-alone test carried out in the comfort of your own home. 

Please note that this test is already included in all BIA test packages and  the allergy & hay fever appointment.

How to test

Abdomen Ultrasound

Please do not eat or drink anything for four hours before your appointment time.

Female pelvis

Using a combination of Abdominal and Trans-vaginal ultrasound probes, the Uterus and Ovaries can be visualised in great detail. You will be provided with a female chaperone.

Typical reasons for an Ultrasound of the Female pelvis:

• Heavy and/or irregular periods
• Pelvic pain
• Post-menopausal bleeding
• Fertility issues
• Review of ovarian cysts and fibroids
• Diagnosis of polycystic ovaries (alongside blood tests)

We initially carry out your scan with a probe on top of the pelvis.

We ask you to have a full bladder for this part, as this provides us with a "window" to help us visualise your organs.

For the second part of the scan you are asked to empty your bladder.

On your return from the toilet, you will be asked to remove your lower clothing and you will be provided with a towel to maintain your privacy. Our internal probe is covered with a latex-free sheath and sterile gel is applied to it.

The probe is then carefully inserted a little way into the vagina, and using gentle manipulation, we can visualise, take images and measurements of your pelvic organs. This procedure only takes a few minutes and most patients find it quite tolerable. The procedure can be stopped at any time you wish.

At all times there will be a female chaperone present, and patient dignity and respect will be maintained throughout the procedure.

Following the examination, you will be provided with tissues and privacy to get dressed.

Preparation instructions

Please drink two pints of water one hour prior to your scan appointment.

Renal Ultrasound

Typical reasons for a renal ultrasound:

Aorta Ultrasound

Typical reasons for an Aorta Ultrasound:

• Male patient, over 65 for screening of Aorta, to rule out an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)
• Pulsatile central abdominal mass Aneurysm
• Family history of AAA

Preparation instructions

Nothing to eat or drink six hours before appointment time.

Thyroid Ultrasound

Typical reasons for a Thyroid Ultrasound:

• Goitre
• Thyroid swelling
• Abnormal thyroid function blood test
• Hyper- or hypo-thyroidism
• Check for and characterisation of thyroid nodules

No preparation is required for this scan.

Carotid artery scan

Typical reasons for a Carotid artery scan:

• Suspected transient ischaemic Attack (TIA)
• Narrowing or blockage of Carotid arteries by a build up of plaque
• Provides a general indicator of subclinical vascular disease

No preparation is required for this scan.

Head & Neck Ultrasound

Typical reasons for a Head & Neck Ultrasound:

• Neck lumps
• Salivary gland lump/swelling
• Dry mouth, blocked salivary gland duct
• Enlarged and/or reactive neck lymph nodes
• Epidermoid cysts

No preparation is required for this scan.

Testes Ultrasound

Typical reasons for Testes Ultrasound:

• Testicular or scrotal sac lump
• Swelling of the scrotum
• Infection, such as epididymitis or epididymo-orchitis
• Testicular pain
• Recent change in testicle size
• Varicocele
• Male infertility

No preparation is required for this scan.  A chaperone can be provided if required.

Shoulder (one area)

• Ascertaining the cause of pain and/or limited range of movement of the shoulder joint
• Tendon tears, tendinopathy, Impingement, and bursitis
• Acromioclavicular joint injury/arthropathy
• Long head of biceps tendon tears, tendinopathy, tenosynovitis, dislocation
• Assessment of Adhesive capsulitis (Frozen shoulder)
• Glenohumeral joint effusions
• Overlying muscle injuries

Hernia

ULTRASOUND HEALTH MOT 3-IN-1  - £330

What does an Ultrasound Health MOT consist of and what can it detect?

The test is a combination of 3 scans.

1. Abdomen. We examine the Liver, Gallbladder, Spleen, Pancreas, Aorta, Bile Ducts & Portal vein
2. Renal Tract. We check your Kidneys and Adrenal glands, Urinary Bladder (full and empty to assess function) and in the case of men, we measure the size of your Prostate gland.
3. Carotid Arteries assessment. These are the vessels that supply blood to your brain. We check for any narrowed or blocked arteries.

Some of the pathologies an Abdominal Ultrasound examination may find include:

• Gallstones, Gallbladder polyps & cholecystitis (inflammation)
• Pancreatitis and some Pancreatic cancers.
• Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
• Liver pathologies, including some cancers, cysts, cirrhosis and enlargement
• Splenic tumours and Spleen enlargement
• Bile Duct obstruction
   

A Renal Tract Ultrasound can identify:

• Kidney stones, cysts, some cancers and renal obstruction
• Some Bladder cancers, stones and inflammation
• Enlargement of the Prostate gland (in men)
• Assess Bladder function by measuring its capacity both full and empty

For Carotid Arteries assessment, Ultrasound can:

• Measure the speed and direction of blood flow in the Carotid Arteries
• Assess for the presence and level of Carotid Artery stenosis (vessel narrowing)
• Characterisation of Carotid Artery plaque deposits and assessment of plaque stability
• Provide a risk assessment for certain types of strokes and Transient Ischaemic Attacks (TIA’s)
• Provide an assessment for potential cardiovascular disease

What happens following my Health MOT?
